Book Overview

As this story begins, Molly, the grandmother manatee, is reflecting on her favorite roles. She simply loves mothering Mikie, her growing grandson. Her next favorite role is being the head teacher at the Manatee Ocean School. Her students call her Miss Molly.

Miss Molly’s classroom is filled from fin to tail with many different species of animals from around the world. Her main goal is to open the minds and hearts of all of her students, teaching them about the environment along the way. Miss Molly strives very hard to share her love of science with the students, letting them know that the only dumb question is one that they don’t ask. Her students’ questions are her treasures, and she takes time to answer every one of them. If she is not sure of the correct answer, she asks her students to join in researching the topic until they all understand it completely.

Welcome to the Manatee and Ocean School. I am so excited to take you on some amazing adventures, and field trips. With the hopes of opening your eyes, your ears, your brain and your soul to all of the gifts and miracles mother nature gives us. I have been blessed with so many unique opportunities as I have witnessed the treasures and the interactions of the beauty of nature. It is these miracles of life that I want to showcase for all of you as the Manatee and Ocean School teaches you about habitats, sustainable habitats, wetlands, the ocean, water, you can even join them for science question day. d so much more as you read, learn, and do the worksheets in the back of every book.

As of today’s date, I have illustrated and written three books. The illustrations come directly from the souls of the creatures and plants I have had a lifetime of getting to know. It is clear to me that mother nature is our best teacher. It is  through her efforts that we have the life sustaining air we breathe and the water we drink. I am constantly in awe of how not  one single detail was forgotten as the world around us was created..I have witnessed first hand how the dance to try and keep that ever so perfect balance in nature is in tormal. I know with every cell in my body that if I give a voice to the animals, the plants, the water, the air, and all of the life around us together we can, we will, we must be the forward pioneers of today and tomorrow.  .
